Delhi–Mumbai Expressway

The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is an upcoming 1,350 km long access-controlled expressway in India that will connect the national capital, New Delhi, with the financial capital, Mumbai. The project was inaugurated on 8 March 2019 by the then-Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, with a total estimated cost of ₹1,00,000 crores (~US$13.1 billion), including land acquisition. The expressway will have eight lanes initially, with the provision of expanding it to 12 lanes in the future.

The expressway will pass through the Union Territory of Delhi and the states of Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. It will have two spurs, the DND-Faridabad-KMP (59 km) and Virar-JNPT (92 km), increasing its total length to 1,350 km. The main length of the expressway will be from Sohna to Virar, which is 1,198 km long.

The route of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will pass through various cities and towns, including Dausa, Kota, Ratlam, Vadodara, and Surat. The expressway will connect the Sohna Elevated Corridor in Delhi to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port in Maharashtra. The project also includes the construction of an additional 31 km long spur from the Noida International Airport in Jewar to Sector-65, Faridabad, by the NHAI.

The expressway will serve as a backbone for the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, along with the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor. It is expected to reduce the travel time from 24 hours to 12 hours and will have reserved land for future expansion, utilities, plantation, and public transport on both sides of the road.
